This story is about buying a used catamaran from a factory in France, and all the fun and frustrations that unfolded during our first season. (Think "Under the Tuscan Sun" but in France and with a boat..) It cover's how we ended up there, the challenges of an unfamiliar business culture, and a few pointers that might be helpful if you are considering buying a boat in Europe. We met some wonderful people and had some great experiences, (I highly recommend a Swiss Tractor Pull if you get the chance!) spent a third more than anticipated, (ouch!) and stayed cool during the hot summer by frequent applications of chilled Rosé, and daily dips in the Mediterranean sea. This book represents the first season of our ongoing cruising dream, and although it didn't go as planned, we still feel the Catana 471 catamaran is a great choice in a cruising multihull.
